Complacency Not an Option Against Asante Kotoko – Karela United Coach
Karela United’s assistant coach, Abukari Damba, has highlighted his team’s determination to approach their opening match of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with the utmost seriousness. As Karela United prepares to face the formidable Asante Kotoko at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Damba emphasized the need for a focused and disciplined approach to secure a positive result.
Despite Karela United’s previous success against the Porcupine Warriors, Damba remains cautious about the upcoming encounter. He acknowledges the strength and quality of Asante Kotoko’s squad under the leadership of coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, and he insists that his team will leave no stone unturned in their preparations.
“We are preparing well for the upcoming season and we are playing against Asante Kotoko, and we all know their quality. We are going to approach this game with all the seriousness to get the desired results, whether we are playing at home or away,” Damba said during an interview with Asempa FM on the Ultimate Sports Show.
Damba, a former Black Stars goalkeeper, also noted that Karela United has been rigorously preparing both physically and mentally throughout their preseason. This comprehensive preparation is aimed at ensuring that the team is fully ready to compete at the highest level when the season kicks off.
“We are preparing and getting ourselves ready physically and mentally, and that is what we have been doing since we started our preseason,” Damba added.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is set to commence on September 6, and Karela United is eager to make a strong start against one of the league’s most formidable opponents. With Damba’s focus on a serious and disciplined approach, Karela United aims to secure a crucial victory in their opening match, setting the tone for a successful season ahead.
